Kitchen Cabinet Refinishing Orange County

Refinishing kitchen & bath cabinets is not nearly as popular in Orange County as it is in other areas of the country. There are several reasons for this. Most of the homes in Orange County were built in tracts where the builders constructed several different models using identical materials and techniques. This enabled them to buy their materials in large quantities and keep labor costs to a minimum.

The kitchen, bathroom and laundry room cabinets installed in almost all of these homes were constructed of inexpensive plywood and particle board with just enough decent wood used to dress the cabinets up a bit.

Consequently, these cabinets do not make good candidates for re-finishing since the finished product depends almost entirely upon the quality of the wood to be finished.

In those rare cases where a home has well built cabinets and where the kitchen layout is not a disaster, another problem makes re-finishing less than satisfactory.

This involves the type of lacquer which can be obtained and applied to cabinets in Orange County. The oil based varnish which was once used is no longer an option making locally applied topcoats far less durable and much more susceptible to flaking, fading and discoloration.
